Ever heard of the breakfast myth? 🍳🥞🥓
I was reading through some blog posts from nutritionists, doctors etc, and one that REALLY caught my eye said something along the lines of “breakfast” is a myth and has been used as a marketing tactic for many companies. 🤔 Think about it. How many people go CRAZY over breakfast foods? Whether it’s at diners or at McDonald’s? In most Western societies, we grow up thinking we NEED to wake up and eat cereal, drink milk, have eggs, bacon, fruit etc. 🍌🥛🍓 On the other hand, you have countries like Vietnam or China. Breakfast can be anywhere from pho 🍲 in the morning to eating pork buns and fried squid at 8am. I honestly never really thought much about this until I asked my clients what their nutrition history’s like. The first thing they tell me is how bad they feel for skipping breakfast even though they know it’s the “most important meal” of the day. But is it really? Then, I tell them about my experiences intermittent fasting. Although I still LOVE breakfast foods, I don’t usually eat my first meal until after 11am. 100% of them are SHOCKED to hear that they DON’T need to eat the first thing they wake up! 😱 Lets say you leave your house at 5:30am to get to work for 6am. Not many people really enjoy eating food at 5 in the morning. Just listen to your body! Now, I’m not telling you to go starve yourself until 6pm at night. But if you’ve been told that you’re doing your body harm for not eating eggs, oatmeal and cereal first thing in the morning, tune that shit out.
